Central Florida Academy of the Arts
About the Academy
Founded in 2019 by Shanda Batchelor with its inaugural school year commencing in August 2020, the Central Florida Academy of the Arts (the “Academy”) is the progeny of the Winter Springs Performing Arts Foundation, which has provided after-school and weekend theatre programs for more than 14 years. In collaboration with Florida Virtual School, the Academy is an innovative private school for grades 4 – 12 which stimulates academic excellence and individual growth by providing a nurturing environment that encourages artistic creativity and collaboration. It is the goal of the Academy to set the standard for performing arts school education in Florida.
Our Mission
It is the mission of the Academy to provide students who possess a strong interest in the performing arts with a high-quality, technology-driven education and conservatory-style classes designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and respect for others and their right to individual artistic and personal expression.
Our Beliefs and Culture
The Academy believes its success is measured by the continued growth of its students as individuals, scholars, and artists. Individual, scholastic, and artistic growth is achieved through dedication, practice, respect towards others, acceptance, innovation, creativity, and integrity. The Academy believes the best way to encourage such practices is by providing a unique culture for students where they are surrounded by like-minded individuals and a supportive faculty which is committed to their development academically as well as artistically.
Our Classes and Schedule
In addition to providing academic classes through Florida Virtual School, the Academy will provide students with conservatory classes which allow them to grow in all areas of the performing arts, making them well-rounded performers who are ready for the stage. For the 2020-2021 school year, students will take six core conservatory classes, including Acting I, Acting II, Dance I, Dance II, Music I (keyboarding), and Music II (Private Vocal Lessons). Our instructors will each utilize their substantial experience in the industry to help bring out the best in each of our students. We offer 3-day (Tuesday – Thursday), 5-day (Monday-Friday), and Conservatory-only options for students. All classes are held between 8:30 and 2:00 p.m.
Our Tuition
Tuition varies based on whether your student is enrolled in our 3-Day, 5-Day, or Conservatory-only option. We encourage you to meet one-on-one with the Academy’s Principal, Shanda Batchelor, to determine which option may be best for your student.
