Audition Production Camps
We are ready to kick off Summer 2022 and we have some amazing productions for you! Check out all the details here and remember that if you are new to audition level productions, a parent meeting will be required before your student’s audition.
L. Frank Baum’s classic novel comes to life in The Wizard of Oz. Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. There, she encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk, scarecrows that walk, and things magical to behold. To find her way home, she must journey along the Yellow Brick Road to see the mysterious and all-powerful Wizard in Emerald City. Along the way, she makes new friends, but must also brave many dangers, including the Wicked Witch of the West, who will stop at nothing to get her hands on Dorothy’s magical ruby slippers. To make it home safely, Dorothy must learn an important lesson: there’s no place like home.
It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.

How we work
Winter Springs Performing Arts is an educational theatre. Once you have an audition slot, you are guaranteed placement in one of our shows. Your audition will help us understand what level you are performing at, and what you need to learn. You will be placed in the production that will best support your theatre education.
Step by step sign up:
- Fill out the form to the right. Once you submit the form you will be sent to “Auditions Manager”.
- There, you will find all audition requirements and details. You will also reserve your audition time slot.
- If you have auditioned with us before keep in mind this season is new and different! Please read audition instructions in Auditions Manager carefully.
You will be able to choose from the following audition times:
Early Auditions
Friday, March 25th 6:30 & 7:30 pm
Students attending early auditions will receive an e-mail within 1 week of the audition. This will inform them of their final placement into The Wizard of Oz and/or High School Musical. Those auditioning for Newsies and qualifying will receive callback invitations.
Regular Auditions
Thursday, May 5th 5:00, 6:00, 7:00pm
Saturday, May 7th 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 am
Newsies Callbacks
Tuesday, May 24th 5:00 – 8:30pm
Audition Dance Video
This year for auditions we will be sending out the audition dance in advance. Now, you are NOT required to learn the piece and have it polished upon your arrival to auditions, but we wanted to make it available to you for two reasons: to help you prepare the best audition you possibly can, and to give you the experience of learning a piece on your own from a video, a skill that will help you succeed in the future.
New students: Parents must attend a parent meeting and can do so during auditions.
